By Karin Riehs, 10fache Clubmeisterin at the Colony Club Gutenhof: »Club life keeps me young«
I’m 62 years young, have been playing golf for 21 years and have been a member here in Himberg for 20 years, where I’ve already been crowned club champion ten times in various age groups. I haven’t regretted a single day here, because we have a real sense of club life here – spanning several generations, with a strong commitment to the young players and an atmosphere where people know and appreciate one another and simply enjoy playing together.
What makes the Gutenhof so special to me is this wonderful combination of sporting challenge and a course that you can really enjoy. Our two 18-hole championship courses are set amidst an unspoilt floodplain forest just outside Vienna, and each has its own distinct character: The East Course is long, challenging and particularly thrilling on the back nine, whilst the West Course is especially memorable for its water hazards and the island green on the 18th, set against the striking colonial-style clubhouse. It is this blend of nature, open spaces and sporting challenge that makes the Gutenhof so appealing to me.
As a founding member of Leading Golf Courses, the club embodies the philosophy behind the organisation. The ongoing quality assessments ensure high standards are maintained, and the Leading Golf Card offers members a wonderful variety: you can also play other Leading courses in Austria and experience just how diverse good golf is in this country.
With sporty greetings!
