By Beate Gottal, Clubmanager at the Golfclub Am Mondsee: »FA bit of a holiday, a bit of a fresh start«

I grew up right next to the Uttlau Golf Course in Bad Griesbach and was introduced to golf at a very young age. Later, my career path led me to the GC Böhmerwald golf office and, in 2013, to Mondsee – initially as club secretary and, since 2020, as manager.

For me, what makes our course so special is, first and foremost, this panoramic view. You arrive and immediately feel as though you’re on holiday: the mountains in the background, the lakes in the foreground, that harmonious tranquillity – it really is something special. The course itself is not only beautiful but also offers a varied challenge, with flat yet demanding holes, cleverly positioned bunkers and the Drachensee, which accompanies you time and again. And this year, there’s a lot going on here: the entire clubhouse has undergone extensive refurbishment over the last two years, including a new restaurant and bar area; the golf club restaurant is now called ‘Mondsee Moments’; and in the greenkeeping department, led by Gottfried Achleitner, there are new leadership roles within a team that has remained loyal to the club for years.

We’re naturally delighted to be recognised as a Leading Golf Club, as this is a testament to our quality. But what’s even more important to me is that the assessments consistently and honestly highlight things that you might sometimes overlook yourself – and it’s precisely this outside perspective that’s such a great benefit.
