Rudi Horn / GLC Schladming-Dachstein: »How it all startet«

It is the spring of 1999. When a guest asked (repeatedly) why a round of golf in Schladming is more expensive than elsewhere in the region, I willingly answered in my role as long-term club manager of the GCC Schladming-Dachstein: “Because you play here in Schladming on a course designed by Bernhard Langer. And associated with this is an obligation to the highest quality - because that's what the two-time major winner from Germany stands for. "

That convinced our guests, but I wanted more: a quality mark for golf clubs! So I invited representatives from several well-known golf clubs from all over Austria and subsequently The Leading Golf Courses were founded in autumn 1999. A few years later, the brand also established itself in Germany.

The basis of the Leading Golf Courses is a list of quality criteria across all areas - from the office to the course to the restaurant. The criteria are tested several times every year by trained anonymous golfers, and compliance with the standards is a prerequisite for acceptance and retention in this marketing network.

With the introduction of The Leading Golf Courses, the quality has also improved sustainably at many of the surrounding golf clubs as a side effect. We were thus able to bring about a comprehensive quality boost on the golf courses in the German-speaking golf area.

Quality has its price! That is the core message and, in my opinion, the best way to counteract the drop in prices in the golf sector.
